Margurite Mae Smith, 95, of Rushville, IL passed away at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Wesley Village in Macomb, IL.
She was born on June 25, 1926 in Woodstock Twp., Schuyler County, IL a daughter of the late Glenn B. & Velma Fretueg Stivers.
She married Earl Smith on December 7, 1947 in Rushville, IL. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2005. She is survived by her three children, Renee (George) Roodhouse of Macomb, IL, Michael (Brenda) Smith of Macomb, IL, Susan (David) Rehn of Woodhull, IL, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. Margurite was overjoyed to know she was expecting a fifteenth great granddaughter in December. She was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Davis-McMillan, Minnie Dupoy-Arnold, Sophie Irwin, Mary Ann Tucker and a brother, Richard Stivers.
Margurite was employed for more than thirty years by Nature House in Griggsville, IL where she inspected and framed wildlife prints. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and she enjoyed restoring antique furniture. Margurite was a loving mother and especially cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Scott Grulke officiating.
Interment followed in Rushville City Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
