The Batchtown and Brussels Woman’s Clubs are sponsoring their long awaited Health and Safety Fair at the Pavilion at the Brussels Park on Sat. Sept. 18 from 9-11 a.m. A loaded raffle ticket is now available with many wonderful items from the businesses and services from our area. Our woman’s club members are now selling the tickets. Free screenings such as blood pressure, and sugar level tests and other health concerns will be available with health professions on hand to speak with you. More details will be in next week’s paper.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club met at the Fill Inn Station for their Aug. 18 Meeting. Members in attendance were: Robin Hillen, Jean Tepen, Barb Sperlo, and Barb Margherio. The ladies discussed and planned for the Health and Safety Fair on Sept. 18 at the Pavilion in Brussels.
Bill Titus passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 20. Visitation is from 8-9:30 a.m. Friday morning followed by mass at St. Barbara’s at 10 a.m.
Michelle and Andrew Wieneke, Taylor Harkey, Jeff Weishaupt and Elaine Titus visited with Wilma Krysl on Sunday.
The life of the Church and the spread of the Kingdom during the first 30 years after Pentecost will meet from Sept. 13th thru Nov. 22 for the first half of the Acts of the Apostles. Then it resumes in January for the last half. More details follow at the email for the Blessed Trinity Office at Skinder @ blessed trinity.dio.org. Joyce Vogel will lead the program which is presented on DVD. Everyone is welcome. Past presentations have been well received and enjoyed.
Steve and Cindy Mezaros celebrated their wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 22 with dinner together at home.

Bryan and Lisa Lumpkin was home recently visiting Kenny and Betty Eilerman. Its peach and apple picking time so Mike, Brian, Greg and Nick have been home with the grandkids helping pick, pack and sell the crops. It’s a busy time of the year.
A lot of parents and supporters of the football team at Calhoun Jr. High and High School attended a carry out and sit down meal at the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday evening August 21. Kathy Wallendorf, and Brad and Anna Rose and many other supporters were there. There are over 52 students participating in the various several age groups on the teams.
Pat and Vera Droege entertained their relatives the last few weeks. Theresa Stevens of Austin, Texas and her daughter, Anne, came for three weeks, and visited Vera’s daughter Divina and daughter Davanta. Vera’s son Donnie Reyes of Berneda, Florida visited for a few weeks, with all the relatives. Donnie is a chef at the Ritz Carlton. Gene and Bill Heffington, and other family met at the IL Riverdock Restaurant as a meeting place for many meals and visits with relatives.
Kathy Wallendorf attended the scrimmage football game Friday. She went to watch her grandsons Drew and Easton play.
The Calhoun Eighth Grade Football Game won their game Sunday. The [light weight] players from our area were: Nicholas Rose, Ryan Baalman, Gunner Medling, Owen Mager, Ollie Roth, and Brody Eilerman.
Lucy Klocke, daughter of Klint and Natalie Klocke and granddaughter of Keith and Hope Klocke celebrated her eighth birthday on Aug. 22. Lucy had a birthday cake and ice cream at home Saturday, Aug. 21. Her theme was Harry Potter. A special visit to her great-grandmother Irene Wallendorf’s house followed Aug. 22 with Grandmother Irene making Lucy a special Angel food cake. Happy birthday Lucy.
Calhoun Warriors eighth grade girls played at North Greene Friday night and won. The members from the Batchtown area were: Kiera Sievers, Anna Belle Eilerman, Lucy Baalman, Stella Gress, and Layla Longnecker. Good job team.
Nathan Franke visited grandmother Elsie Kirn Saturday, and spent the weekend with Dad, Greg, and Rosie Franke. All had a wonderful visit.
Vera Droege, and Elsie went to visit Bernie Snyders at her home Friday. They enjoyed talking together and ice cream together.
