Did you know that there is no substitute for human blood? It can only come from donors, and Jerseyville citizens volunteered their time to help out during the blood drive during City Center Week.
Royal Banks was the sponsor for the blood drive on Wednesday.
“We have had an awesome turn-out,” said Sharon Cameron. “The American Red Cross bloodmobile was from Florence, St. Louis district, and the goal was to help with building back the blood supply that blood banks are experiencing from the pandemic.”
One blood donor found out about the blood drive from his phone and another came in because he heard about it from a friend and a woman said she was happy to help.
“It’s been about my 75th time donating blood,” Scott Gresham said.
Anita Driver said she donates all the time. “I have probably over the years donated blood well over 150 times and I would do it again if I could.”
