Not a lot going on in our little village this week, but of course we always find something to entertain ourselves with.
Derek Boxdorfer and Billye Titus hosted “Outdoor Movie Night” on Jefferson Street on Saturday night and the kids in town absolutely loved it. What a wonderful thing to do- Derek and Billye. These are the best kind of memories to make.
With school starting that means the return of Calhoun Warrior Football and Lady Warrior Volleyball. I think it’s great that our sports are back and the Calhoun County Fair is just around the corner.
Contestants for Miss Calhoun, Jr. Miss, Little Miss and Little Mr. are currently selling 50/50 tickets. You do not have to be present to win.
The Calhoun Fair is September 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Will and Beth Rios and boys have been visiting with Mick and Zel Blumenberg and all the family this past week. Before they start their next adventure with the Army. On Sept 6 they will be heading to San Antonio, Texas. They’ve sure had to travel a lot with their Army career. When I was visiting Fort Bragg, when my son-in-law was stationed there, the house across the street had a sign that said “ Home is Where the Army Takes Us” then listed all the places they had been. I think that it takes special people to be able to travel and do that.
Congratulations to Macie (Lehr) and Jake Kontsas who were married Saturday in a beautiful service with a gorgeous reception in Old Town St. Charles . Macie was a stunning bride. She is the daughter of Richard and Liz Lehr and granddaughter of Elmer and June Lehr and Jim Hill. Best wishes Jake and Macie.
Mary Ann Bailey’s family celebrated her 86th birthday with her on Saturday. They all attended church at Saint Michael and then enjoyed cake. Happy 86 Mary Ann.
Happy Birthday to Walker Sibley. He celebrated his birthday on Aug 25.
Happy Anniversary to Lynn and Katrinna Brangenberg on August 30.
Don’t forget to get your chances on the beautiful Christmas quilt donated by Pat Gotway. Proceeds will help the Lite Up Kampsville Committee.
Please add to your prayers Charlotte Kirby and all of the Military families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice this past week. Continue your prayers also for Jerry Crader, Jim Hill, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Joe Gress, Amy Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Tonya Fester, Mark Bowers, Bill Schumann, Bruce Williams, Eileen Gardner, Ashley Wilson and Linda Herkert.
