We have new royalty in our county. Congratulations to Miss Calhoun Lexi Klocke daughter of Brad and Cindy Klocke of Batchtown. Jr. Miss Reagan Clendenny daughter of Terry Clendenny of Pleasant Hill and Lindsey Taul of Kampsville. Little Miss Harlow Hayn daughter of Stephen and Britney Hayn of Kampsville and Braxton King son of Cullen and Lauren King of Hardin.
I’m sure Calhoun will be greatly represented this year.
Jr. Miss Calhoun, Reagan Diane Clendenny, also happens to be my granddaughter. So I’m pretty proud.
What an amazing weekend in Calhoun County. We got to have our fair again.
I think that it was probably one of the best attended fairs we’ve had in a long time. Everyone was glad to be out and about, the kids got to ride rides and play with friends, old friends got to reconnect and that is what the Calhoun county fair is all about. Also the fair food did not disappoint.
It was also a chance for organizations who haven’t received funding to do so, such as the American Legion, Hardin Swimming Pool and the Calhoun High School Yearbook. It’s hard to keep things going without fundraisers and last year the opportunity just wasn’t there but we are coming back bigger and stronger.
When talking about the fair I feel it is only “fitting” to say some words about the Grand Marshal of the parade Sarah Heffington. Sarah is a giving woman always trying to help our community. My reason for feeling it is very “fitting” for her to be the grand marshal of our parade is because of all the countless alterations she has done over the years.
I can’t even begin to imagine the thousands of outfits over the years of Queens and Queen contestants and Little Miss contestants and Junior Miss contestants that Sarah Heffington has altered over the years. I can personally tell you from experience you can get a hold of her on a moment’s notice and she will say “bring it down and let me see what I can do?” The minute you hear those words you never worry anymore that your outfit isn’t going to be taken care of because she will fix it.
Great choice Calhoun County Fair Board.
Great job all the way around to the Fair Board. Thank you for volunteering your time and for your dedication .
Don’t forget the Kampsville Ferry will be closed for improvements until September 30.
Kinsley Schumann was named Little Miss Pittsfield and little sister Lakin was chosen Baby Girl Pittsfield on September 3 at Pittsfield Fall Days. They are the daughters of Devin and Leslie Schumann and granddaughters of Roberta Schumann and Gerald Sidwell and Todd and Becky Scranton.
Will and Beth (Blumenberg) Rios departed for their new home in San Antonio, Texas last week. Kristy and baby Mackenzie also went to make their home in San Antonio. Best of luck to all of them on their new adventure. I’m sure it’s hard for Mick and Zel to let them all go. Beths sister Lacey and Josh Cummings and their daughters helped them with their move.
Happy eighth Birthday to Leyton McClellen on September 3, Nina Wilson 8th.
Happy 16 Birthday Jaela Gibson on September 9.
Maurice Lammy celebrated his 95 birthday on September 8. He enjoyed lunch with friends from Palmayra at the Illinois Riverdock. After lunch he was informed by the waitress Jeane Bland that someone had paid for his lunch. He would very much like to know who that was so he could thank them.
Congratulations to Josh and Kristin Dawdy on the arrival of their first child. They had
a son, Judson Reid, who made his arrival on Labor Day, September 6, weighing 8 lbs. and 8 oz. Proud Grandparents are Patty Dawdy, Norman and Gina Becker. Great Grandparents are Violet Becker and Sam Holland.
