The three day Griggsville Apple Festival kicks off this Friday, Sept 17 and offers three days of food, fun and festivities.
Opening ceremonies will start at 6 p.m. with prayer and the flag raising. The first hourly drawing will be at 6:10 p.m. and will the held each hour thereafter. The queen candidates will be introduced at 6:15 p.m.. The Ladema Sappington Scholarship winner and the Friends of the Apple Festival will be announced at 6:20 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. respectively.
The Johnny Appleseed and Miss Apple Blossom will be held at 6:40 p.m.
The queen contestants will dance at 7:15 p.m. and at 7:25 p.m. Todd Evans will host music trivia.
The queen contestants will take the stage at 9:10 p.m. for the crowning.
Saturday morning, the car and antique tractor show registration starts at 9 a.m. as does the decorated cakes and themed baskets at Rumors, along with apple pie baking contests,
9:30 a.m. is the registration for the kiddie parade and the judging will be at 9:45 a.m. The baby contests begins 10:30 a.m. with children’s games following at 11 a.m.
The tractor parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the Magnificent Mile Parade starts at 2 p.m.
The Boy Scouts SoapBox Derby will be at 4:30 p.m. and the apple pie eating contest on stage is also at 4:30 p.m.
Parade trophies will be presented at 5 p.m. and a corn hole tournament for students is also at 5 p.m.
Participants from the mini-cheer camp will perform at 6:10 p.m. along with the GPHS cheerleaders.
All the Apple Festival Royalty will be presented at 6:20 p.m. and the cake, cookie baskets and pie auction starts at 6:30 p.m.
At 8 p.m. Entertainment by Trixx will start.
There will be hourly drawings starting at 6 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 19, will be community church services on the stage. In case of rain, the event will move to the Griggsville Methodist Church. Music will be provided by the Liberty Christian Church Praise Group.
