Gabby Sievers served the last nine points of the match, and West Central rallied to beat North Greene 25-22, 23-25, 26-24 in volleyball Sept. 7 at Winchester.
North Greene had a kill to take a 24-16 lead late in the third game. West Central gained serve when the Spartans committed a service error.
Sievers had the next points for the Cougars (4-2). Sievers had three service aces, and Anna Sellars had a tip as West Central got within 24-21.
West Central had a block at the net, North Greene committed a hitting error, Sievers had two more service aces to give the Cougars a 25-24 lead. North Greene hit the ball wide on match point.
Lily Little had 10 service points, including two aces, 15 kills, six assists and three blocks. Sievers had 10 service points, including five aces, and one kill.
Ashley Gregory had seven service points, including one ace, five kills, three assists and one dig. Anna Sellars had two service points, including two aces, four kills and one dig. Rylee Burk had one service point and three digs.
Shaylyn Bitoon had four assists, Karsyn Wardlow had three digs, and Emma Smith had three kills, Elise Brown had one kill.
West Central won the junior varsity match 23-25, 25-20, 25-10.
Brown County beat West Central 25-11, 25-9 Sept. 8 at Mt. Sterling
Gregory had six assists, three kills, three blocks and one dig for West Central (4-3). Little had eight blocks, two kills, one dig and one assist.
Sellars had five kills and four blocks. Brown had two blocks and two digs. Sievers had four digs and one block. Smith had one kill and one block.
Wardlow had 16 digs, and Burk had seven.
Brown County won the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-20.
Calhoun held off West Central 25-18, 25-23 Sept 9 at Winchester.
Calhoun led 11-4 in the second game before the Cougars rallied. Little had a service ace to give West Central a 12-11 lead.
Gregory had a kill to tie the game at 23. West Central committed hitting errors, however, on the next two points as Calhoun came away with the win.
