Would you support…. a variety of creative classes and activities for all ages? Grant opportunities for artists-in-residence and storytellers? Fine arts displays available for all (painting, photography, weaving, sculpture, etc.)? Events that engage community participation and are enticing to visitors? An investment in the amazing talent here in our own backyard?
Sherry Droste would like to invite anyone interested in the formation of a Jersey County Arts Council to a short brainstorming session. The idea for a fine arts organization has been a long time dream of hers. She was inspired by a wonderful arts experience she had 45 years ago in a small, rural Kansas town.
“There is such a wealth of diverse talent in Jersey County, and the surrounding area, and my experience has shown me that folks here tend to be very supportive of the amazing fine arts opportunities that currently exist,” Droste said. “I am confident that a group of like-minded individuals can make this happen locally.”
This meeting will take place Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Susnig Center meeting room (401 Mound St. Jerseyville, IL 62052). Out of consideration for everyone, please plan to wear a mask. Snacks and bottled water will be provided.
If you can not attend and you are interested or have another interested party to recommend, please reach out to Sherry directly. She can be reached by email at earthdae22@yahoo.com or by phone at 618-806-1312.
