Congratulations to Taylor Held and Samantha Rynders who were married on Saturday afternoon at Immaculate Conception of Dardenne Chapel in O’Fallon, MO.  A reception and dance followed at the Water’s Edge in St. Peters, MO.  Taylor is the son of Scott and Theresa Held of Lake St. Louis, the grandson of Jim and Sharon Held of Alton and the great grandson of Marie Held of Brussels.  Those attending from this area were Bob and Bonnie Held, Marie Held, Barb Ward of Taylorville and Sharon McLeod of Roundup, Montana.

Willie and Renee Rose, Charlotte, Anderson and Emme Kate of Golden Eagle and Ben and Jill Rose, Claire and Lila of Brussels enjoyed spending Saturday at Big Joel’s Safari Petting Zoo and Park in Wright City, MO.  The kids all enjoyed feeding and petting the goats and llamas, camel rides, holding parakeets, enjoying the playground area and checking out turtles, snakes and lizards.  Sounds like they had a great day!

Vera Droege returned on Thursday afternoon after spending a week in Indiana with her daughter, Davina, and granddaughter, Devonte.  Her son, Donny Reyes of Florida, was also there to attend his class reunion so they all enjoyed visiting with him as well.

Kevin and Tammy Kiel and Reese of Brussels and Jim and Mary Lou Klaas of Batchtown enjoyed a recent relaxing camping vacation at Siloam Springs, Arkansas, on the OK state line.  They enjoyed fishing, sight-seeing, etc. in the area while there.  Back in 1919 Siloam Springs began as a health resort which referred to the healing waters of the springs.  Sounds like an interesting area.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Daniel Haug, who passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 5.  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Maria Haug, and their children. A memorial visitation at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant, Mo., was held on Saturday from noon until time of memorial service at 2:30 p.m.

Family members of the late George Kuhn attended the memorial service of their Aunt Alice (Kuhn) Marshall on Saturday in St. Louis.  Alice was the oldest of 5 children, at 100 years old, and the last of the Kuhn siblings. Deepest sympathy to all her family.

Word was received this morning of the death of Marvin Caselton, Jr. of Brighton.  Deepest sympathy to his wife, Maude; and daughters Marcy and Michelle and their families.

George Baecht also received word of the passing of his Aunt Alice (Schulze) Polston of Warrenton, MO.  She was a daughter of the late Henry “Dutch” and Daisy (Kulp) Schulze.

Birthday Blessings this week to Donna Droege, Bill Schulte, Pat Reichman, Colleen Baalman, Kassidy Klocke, Sandy Nolle, Greta Burch, Larry Meyer, Brody Caselton, Claire Rose, Chase Caselton, Carole Klunk, Liz Banghart and all others celebrating their natal day at this time.

PRAYER OF THE HARVEST

Lord and bountiful creator, giver of grains and seeds, and all that grows from the earth, we thank You for this year’s harvest.  We lift up our hearts in gratitude to the sun, together with rain, wind and earth that worked in harmony to produce this harvest.  We are also grateful to those who labored so that the harvest came to fullness.  Harvest is richly rewarding to see the fruit of our labor and to take pride in its completion.  Blessed are You, Lord God, who has given to us this bountiful harvest.  Amen.
