Friday, Oct. 1, the Jersey County Business Association (JCBA) officially welcomed Jerseyville’s newest business, Bargain Outlet, to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony just before the business’s doors officially opened at 9 a.m.
The anticipation for Bargain Outlet’s grand opening was palpable as community members and out-of-town shoppers piled into the parking lot and began lining up outside the doors in the hopes of being among the first to browse the aisles of the new liquidation store.
According to a TikTok video posted by Bargain Outlet, the first customers of the day arrived as early as 5:30 a.m. and received electric kettles for their determination to be the first to patronize the new business.
Co-owners and mother-son duo George Roethemeyer and Cindy Brown were especially excited for the grand opening, with the entire store team – including the dog, Corona – donning matching T-shirts to celebrate the occasion.
The JCBA was thrilled to see the community come out in numbers to greet the owners and browse the wares of the new business.
“We are excited to help welcome Bargain Outlet to Jerseyville and we were grateful to be a part of this morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony. Opening a new business is an immense undertaking, and its exciting to such a great reception by our community,” JCBA Director Beth Bear said.
Bargain Outlet is a liquidation store that receives weekly shipments of goods from major retailers. The store then sells those goods at a major discount to shoppers.
