What is Christian Science? According to the Bible, it says God is love. (1 John 4:16) God’s love is the basis of Christian Science. The founder of Christian Science is Mary Baker Eddy and she wrote, “Divine Love is the substance of Christian Science, the basis of its demonstration and its foundantion and superstructure.”
People who practice this ideology do their best to live boldly and are compassionate about the love that Jesus laid out in his sermon on the mount which was talked about in MattHew 5-7. It speaks to the hearts of Christians.
On Saturday, Oct. 9, you are invited to a free lecture, “Humility That Overcomes The World” by Mark McCurties, CS Christian Science practitioner, member of the Christian Science and a board member from the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
It will be held at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Elsah, Illinois. The lecture will be on Elsah Civic Center grounds. It will be outside on 57 Mill Street, Elsah, IL 62028 at 11 a.m. Childcare will be provided and all are welcome to attend.
The church website explains more about why Christian Science is also a science. “It’s based on God as infinite Principle as weas unchanging Love. God loves all of us unconditionally and is the only true power and source of all good. Christian Science explains the spiritual laws of Love that Jesus relied on to heal sickness and sin. These laws are reliable and can be proven. People are doing the same kind of healing today as they learn more about what God really is,” reads the site.
