Tragically, on Sunday, Oct. 9, a single vehicle accident resulted in the death of Sharon K. Koehler, age 67, of Basco, IL.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene on State Highway 96 at 4:52 p.m. Following an investigation, it was determined that Koehler was traveling west on State Highway 96 on a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle and, for unknown reasons, drove off the north side of the highway and struck a tree.
Koehler was pronounced deceased on the scene by Sheriff William Heffington.
Calhoun County EMS and North Calhoun Fire Protection District assisted with the incident.
No further information is available, and the accident remains under investigation.
