It is so nice that so many events are going on in our small county, making the most of this beautiful fall weather we’ve been having and of course the Calhoun scenery.
What a beautiful Saturday morning for some football. The Calhoun Warriors Junior Football League traveled to Unity Mendon for the championship game. They begin their morning early with a team breakfast at Straight Home and then proceeded on route in a caravan of fans. Congratulations Lightweights on a Championship win defeating Winchester. Heavy weights lost their game to Quincy unfortunately but definitely had an awesome season and showcase some wonderful talented athletes.
Congratulations on being chosen All-Conference to Rodney Johnson, Jack Goode, Tyler Grimes and Tyler Snyders.
I think everyone was excited for the return of the Church Dinner at Saint Francis of Assisi in Hardin. The drive-through carry out line was long and well worth it. This year they added a picnic with it and that also was a huge success. Just to show an example of how wonderful the Calhoun community is. They had a problem with a couple of their chicken fryers for the dinner and an amazing turnout. The Riverdock and the Hardin Drive-In both stepped up to help and fried chicken to assist the Church dinner. Both of these restaurants are already working with a skeleton crew but they didn’t even take that into consideration they just jumped in when they were needed with no hesitation. Because that’s how we do things here in Calhoun. Also a great reminder to support your local businesses.
The Calhoun Royalty Miss Calhoun Lexi Klocke, Jr. Miss Calhoun, Reagan Clendenny, Little Miss Harlow Hayn and Little Mr. Braxton King had another busy weekend. On Saturday they attended the Free Trappers a Rendezvous on the Hardin in RiverFront beside the Riverdock. They enjoyed checking out the teepees and they all enjoyed the Ax throwing. On Sunday they attended the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Picnic. They are definitely staying busy and having fun representing Calhoun.
Little Miss Harlow Hayn and dad and mom Stephen and Britney as well as siblings Hinley, Harry, Harvey and Huey finished out their Sunday enjoying the Pumpkin patch at Greenefield Farms.
