On Friday, Oct. 15, the Calhoun/Brussels varsity football team lost their away game against Beardstown, Ill. by a score of 42-22. In the first quarter, Hunter Roth got a touchdown and passed for another touchdown from Miles Lorton. Owen Quigley went 54 yards from Lucas Domitien. Chris Stanley had a break on the field and ran for a touchdown.
“We did lots of good things in this game. We just made some mistakes that cost us points in the second quarter that could have changed the possible outcome of the game.” Calhoun Head Coach Aaron Elmore said.
Roth threw 26 yards to Joe Stein and ran the ball 35 yards out, while Stanley scored an 11-yard touchdown but failed in his attempt to score again for the Warriors.
“They are a 3A playoff team that has great size and speed. Our guys fought hard and stayed in the game, but in the end we just didn’t do enough to win the game.” Elmore said.
