NSDAR Nancy Ross Chapter welcomed IL State Director Debra Coe as their guest at the Oct. 13th meeting. She spoke to the members about her State Theme which is “Peace and New Life” and the need to be kind to one another.
Her Regent’s Project is Wreaths Across America of which the chapter plans to participate and possibly offer the invitation to the community as well.
Chapter members discussed November plans of ways to honor the Pike County veterans which includes making tissue paper poppies to be put in a bouquet with a card of gratitude for their service in each of the American Legions. Generous donations have been given by members and it was decided that money will be placed in the accounts of veterans in county nursing facilities for haircuts. Flags with stands and a card of thanks will be made and given to them as well.
A Snap a Salute news article has been written to honor legionnaires/volunteers who display flags in their towns on special holidays. A monthly chapter project is taking donuts/treats to the veterans who gather at ‘Morning at the Mess Hall’ on the first Friday of each month at the All-Wars Museum.
