After the last few mornings of mid-40 degree weather I am totally convinced fall has arrived. Thankfully it does reach the low 70’s by afternoon. The trees on the bluffs to Hardin, as well as the Great River Road, are beginning to show gorgeous fall colors and make for a beautiful drive.

Chelsie Kiel, Stevie, Charlie and Tobias of Brussels and her mom Pat Tepen of Hardin enjoyed spending Sunday afternoon at the Green Fields Farm in Greenfield, IL. Such a great place to visit with so much to see and do. Farm animals, u-pick pumpkin patch, swing rides, all kinds of activities for the children to enjoy. Sounds like they all had a great time together.
The family of Teresa Haug of Golden Eagle helped her celebrate her 93rd Birthday on Sunday. Lots of delicious food and a wonderful day together.
My Saturday night overnight guest was my son John Carnes. On Sunday we attended church together and were pleasantly surprised when Dennis and Shelly Scherer of Wright City and Cyndi Axford of Chesterfield joined us. Sunday was the 160th Anniversary of the founding of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. After service a buffet chicken dinner followed in the church hall and was enjoyed by many. A beautifully decorated open Bible design cake was made by Judy Zahrli and donated for the occasion by her and her husband Jerry Zahrli. Thank you again, it was beautiful as well as delicious.
Our county has been saddened lately by several residents that have passed away. Charlotte Jacobs, Letha Simon and Liz Toppmeyer. Thoughts and prayers are with all the families.
