A nationwide movement to have students walk out of school in protests of the mask mandate, did not happen in Pike County.
Jessica Funk, superintendent at Western, said their student absences was below average for this time of year.
Kent Hawley at Griggsville-Perry said there was not movement in his schools and Ron Edwards at Pleasant hill said absences were average for the day.
Carol Kilver of Pittsfield said attendance at Pikeland Schools was good Monday and that any students who were absent Monday would need a doctor’s excuse to be re-admitted when they return.
“Our kids have been great today,” KIlver said. They are every day.”
