Mason Seymour focused on taking his shot at IHSA state finals.
It’s been 24 years since a Jerseyville Panther has made it to state for the golf tournament. All around the town, one could see signs in front of businesses and homes to show support for very own Mason Seymour who was able to make the cut for state finals in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) boys and girls golf state finals.
“Mason shot an 86 on the first day (Friday, Oct. 8). He needed to shoot 79 to make the cut to the Saturday round,” Coach Bryan Brown said. “St. Ignatius won the team state title and Cy Norman of Benton was the state champion shooting 134 for a 2 day score. 142 was par.”
Although Seymour shot high and was not able to make it to Saturday, his team, family and friends were all still proud.
