Blake Ruebush, fisheries biologist with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and his partner, Rob Bartlett, show off two 55 lb. big head carp that were captured Friday morning in the King Park Lagoon. The fish were living in only three feet of water. Fish were removed from the lagoon and re-located while the lagoon gets a make over. The lagoon is scheduled to be drained this week, repairs made to the overflow and additional depth added before refilling.

Electro-fishing methods were used Friday morning at King Park Lagoon to remove all the fish for a renovation project. Blake Ruebush and Rob Bartlett from the Illinois Department of Resources were collecting fish before the lagoon is drained. Sport fish, such as largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish were relocated to the Pittsfield Lake and once the renovation is completed, the lagoon will be restocked. Undesirable fish were relocated to a river. At least one large Asian Carp was captured.
