The 11th Girls Night Out on the Square in Pittsfield will take place this Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at businesses throughout downtown Pittsfield. One of the most popular attractions at Girls Night is J. Roberts Jewelers’ champagne glass sale, which gives entrants the chance to win one of two diamonds. Bob and Susan Pitchford, owners of J. Roberts Jewelers, are shown preparing for the 2019 Girls Night Out on the Square. The 2020 Girls Night Out was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over three dozen stores and pop-up vendors are participating in this year’s Girls Night Out on the Square in Pittsfield, which takes place this Thursday, Nov. 4, from 4-8 p.m.
Attendees of the event may register for the grand prize, which is a stay for two at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge, at one of four businesses – US Cellular, Casteel’s, Wright Place Auto Body and Hometown Real Estate.
According to Pittsfield Mayor Gary Mendenhall, Girls Night Out plays an important role in supporting Pike County businesses.
“Girls Night Out attracts out of town visitors to Pittsfield,” Mendenhall said. “It introduces them to all our shops around the square. Hopefully they develop a relationship with our businesses, and they become long-term customers to our businesses.”
New for this year’s Girls Night Out, the City of Pittsfield is setting up a 30’ by 60’ tent on the courthouse lawn.
According to Mendenhall, the tent will offer refreshments as well as live music from 6-8 p.m.
“The city is super excited to host a tent and a stop during this year’s event,” Mendenhall said. “We are featuring Gator Head, which is three musicians from Mad Hoss Jackson. Everybody knows Mad Hoss Jackson.”
Participating businesses will offer door prizes, giveaways, samples, sales, refreshments and other forms of entertainment. In addition, the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will be selling 50/50 tickets at Pikeland Motors.
“From the city’s perspective, anytime money is spent here and local businesses are promoted, that’s a good thing for everybody,” Mendenhall said.
Like most years many businesses will have other vendors set up inside their business with even more items to explore and purchase.
