Flu vaccine continues to be available at Pike County Health Department, 606 West Adams Street, in Pittsfield.
No appointment is needed.
Available hours for adult and children walk-in flu immunizations are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
The cost of the influenza vaccine is $35. (or billed to Medicare or Medicaid with no cost to the client). Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted. Insurance billing for most insurance plans is available.
The CDC recommends everyone six months and older receive the flu vaccine. People at high risk of serious flu complications, including young children; pregnant women; people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease; and people 65 years and older should make getting vaccinated a priority. Senior Dose flu vaccine for those 65 years and older is recommended by local healthcare providers.
