For the third time in as many weeks, a semi has crashed in western Scott County on I-72, this time near mile post 47.
According to Illinois State Police the latest accident occurred Oct.27 at 2:44 a.m. A 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer semi-trailer was westbound in the construction zone and for an unknown reason left the roadway, traveled through a ditch and into the woodbine.
The driver, Dany Deneus, 41, from Boynton, Fla, refused medical treatment as did the passenger, Joseph Bernide, 35, also of Boynton.
Dennis was ticketed for improper lane usage.
Oct.11 Jeffrey L.Cross of Jacksonville crashed his 2015 Mack semi-truck trailer near mile marker 49. Then Oct. 24, Rehab Abdullah of Sandy Springs Ga. ran off of I -71 near mile marker 51.
All accidents happened in the early morning hours.
