Pat Boldt, District V Director, who resides in Chapin, was guest speaker at Dr. Silas Hamilton Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon meeting at the Olive Branch restaurant in Jerseyville on Nov. 6. The Director visits each of District V’s 13 chapters during her two-year term of office.
Her topic “New Beginnings” stressed that we have new beginnings in our lives with the choice of schools, jobs, marriage, activities and that those decisions we make will give us peace. Boldt chose becoming members in the DAR as an example of a new beginning and how it could enrich our lives by participating in the social and service-oriented programs within our community which are a part of National DAR objectives of promoting patriotism, education and historic preservation.
The chapter also conducted a memorial service honoring the Patriots of the American Revolution and will also contribute to “Wreaths Across America” in December in Alton.
The next meeting will be at Sue Beach’s home at 11 a.m. on Dec. 4.
