There is rarely a lack of good, fun, family activities here in the city of Jerseyville and this month is no exception. Plan on visiting your Jerseyville Public Library in the month of November where you will find activities such as Monday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. where you can gather your family for a fun-filled celebration of Family Reading Night by participating in an Escape Room adventure.
Parents can bring their preschool aged children in on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10:00 am to socialize with other children their age by listening to delightful stories and silly songs and working on an age appropriate craft.
If you are on the lookout for some great gift-giving opportunities, head to the Quality Book Sale by the Friends of the Library group beginning Wednesday, Nov. 24 at noon and ending on Monday, Dec. 6 at 3:00 p.m. The sale will be conducted during regular Library hours on the dates in between. You will find great bargains on books that are in gift-giving condition.
The Library is thrilled to participate in the much-loved Downtown Country Christmas Festival each year and this year, on Saturday, Nov. 27, we will be at the new City Center Park (across from the Stadium Theater) between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. with a Night Before Christmas Read Aloud children’s game, a Bright Lights Scavenger Hunt contest and a special holiday entertainer, Babaloo, whose high energy comedy and music show will delight young and old. If you are looking for Christmas books, the Friends will be at the SF/HG Bazaar on the 27th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a great selection at the Father Hembrow Center.
If you are interested in learning a new craft and have always wanted to know what the popular Cricut Maker is all about, join the class on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 pm at the Library. The class is free but if you wish to make a design, bring $5.00. Please call the Library at 618-498-9514 to register.
Make a note of the following holiday closures this month at the Library: Nov. 11, closed for Veteran’s Day; Nov. 24, closing at 6 p.m. and Nov. 25, closed for Thanksgiving. Since you have your calendar out, save the date for the Annual Cookie Exchange on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. And speaking of which, you may purchase an amazing Cookbook almost 40 years in the making, “Cookies and More: Almost 40 Years of Cookie Exchange Recipes” at the Library or many businesses in town. The Cookbook is $15 and all the proceeds go to the Friends of the Library to use for Library events, supplies and expansion. These would make great gifts for Christmas.
As with each month, everyone is encouraged to stop by Wock Lake and take a StoryWalk® in the brisk November air. This month’s book, “Train Coming!”, is a delightful throwback to a simpler time.
Your Library is here for you whether you are a Jerseyville city or county resident or out-of-town visitor. You will find many resources including copying, printing, computer use, notary, tutoring rooms and the list goes on. Visit the website at jerseyvillelibrary.org or the Facebook page @jvillelibrary for more information and to keep up with all that is happening at your Jerseyville Public Library.
