The Brussels Eagles Cheerleaders are excited to share that their annual Trivia Night was a huge success! On Saturday, Nov. 13 seventeen teams competed in ten rounds answering questions from categories of literature, sports, entertainment, and local landmarks.
The girls also sold food, desserts, 50/50 tickets, and “Dining Out” tickets. The “Dining Out” Raffle included over $600 in restaurant gift certificates, all donated by local restaurants. First prize, $400 value, was won by Keith Kinder. It included gift certificates from: Red Lobster, Steak ‘n Shake, Stefanina’s, The Cheesecake Factory, Tony’s, The Pasta House, Oyster Bar, The Loading Dock, Point Pleasant, Old Point Pub, Growler’s, Brussels Red & White Grocery, Illinois Riverdock, Straight Home Bar & Grill, and Pere Marquette. Second prize, $150 value, was won by Judy Manzor. It included gift certificates from: My Just Desserts, The Whole Scoop, Wittmond Hotel, Barefoot, Fazoli’s, Subway, and the Old Fill In Station. Third prize, $50 value, was won by Nancy Kulp which included gift certificates from: Rib City, Longhorn Steakhouse, and the Hardin Drive-In.
Interest in cheerleading has grown and the squad has doubled since last year. All donations helped to purchase new gear for this hardworking squad. The BGS Cheerleaders are eager to use their new uniforms, pom-pons, tights, socks, shoes, and megaphones at the upcoming basketball games.The BGS Cheerleaders are spreading school spirit and encouraging community support at all sporting events. We would be delighted if you could come out to the fifth-eighth grade Brussels Eagles basketball games and help cheer on our team.
