The Pittsfield High School History Club will host their third annual Trivia Night, Friday, Nov. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the PCS cafeteria. Each team can have anywhere between four to eight members.
“There will be 10 categories, not just history questions,” Spencer Boren, advisor for the group, said. “We will include music, science, sports, etc.”
Boren said the club members, which include two freshmen, two juniors and three seniors, have been working the past few weeks, coming up with questions and organizing the event.
Cash prizes will be paid to the top two teams. There is also a coveted Mystery Novelty Trophy for the overall winners.
Concessions will be available.
Previous trivia night profits have been donated to providing a Pike County History section in the Pittsfield High School Media Center. Books about Pike County or by Pike County authors are featured. The group also purchased a membership into the New Philadelphia Association.
They have also participated in a a reseeding effort at New Philadelphia and helped with the Zoe Theatre
Restoration Project.
The club frequently invites guest speakers to their meeting. Topics covered by the speakers include; New Philadelphia, Vietnam War, Zoe Theater, Spain and the history of railroads in Pike County.
Last year’s trivia night’s proceeds were earmarked for the All-Wars Museum, but the event was cancelled due to COVID. This year’s proceeds have been designated for the All-Wars Museum.
