This week I need to start my column off with a correction to last week. The delicious fried chicken at the Veterans Day Dinner was from “The Landing.” Thank you so much Terry, Kayla, Theresa and Amy for always going above and beyond. I’m not sure if Karrina or Christie fried the chicken but they are both wonderful cooks.
Sunday night Kampsville was definitely the place to be. We lit up Veterans Park and our Big Tree. We had Christmas music playing. We also had a hot chocolate bar, with whip cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and candy canes. So much fun lots of laughs from family and neighbors and lots of memories being made. Perfect way to kick off our holiday season.
Everyone is welcome to take a drive to Kampsville and enjoy our lights. Don’t forget we are having a light up Kampsville Contest for anyone in Kampsville sign up and decorate.
Bob and Margie Smith and their family had a busy weekend getting their Christmas decorations all up. It looks great.
Kampsville Christmas Party is Dec. 19 at the Center for American Archeology gym. We will need lots of baked goods for the treat walk. Mark your calendar’s you’re gonna want to attend. We have some great basket raffles on display at the Landing and the Bank of Kampsville.
The Sons of the Legion had a great turnout Sunday afternoon for their Meat Shoot. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and participated. The lights at Christmas in Sievers Lane will go on Thanksgiving night and will be on nightly from 5-11 through January 1.
Happy 15th birthday to Sophia Gibson on Nov. 21.
Our village is feeling a great loss this week. Andy Johnson passed away Tuesday evening. Andy was loved by all the kids in his neighborhood and was always willing to help anyone in need. A lot of us in the village have relied on him for tech-support with her computers anytime we needed it. He kept us going many years at the village hall with an outdated computer that he just kept helping us fix. Please keep his son Shannon, daughter-in-law Jeanette and grandkids Lex, Liam and Layla. His mom Rosemary Johnson, and siblings Barb, Mike, Dennis, Lisa, Jan, Marty, and Danny as well as his many nieces and nephews in your prayers.
Continue prayers are so for Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Joe Gress, Jim Hill, Raymond Sievers, Amy Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Chad Sievers, Bill Schumann, Eileen Gardner, Bruce Williams, Mark Bowers, Zel Blumenberg, Jerry Crader and Kathryn Chapman.
