Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. And this is a day of gathering, giving and loving without a material item in the mix! Suddenly so many things become so little when we realize how blessed and lucky we are! Today and every day be thankful for your bountiful blessings and share with those not so well blessed. We should cherish this time with dear family and friends whether one travels near or far or in today’s life maybe even a video chat! Realize how important those near and dear to your heart are to you and it costs us nothing to show it, for there are many who are not here this year and some who will not be next! This is the truth and facts of life and we should not take so much for granted as time waits on no one. We are so caught up in today’s hustle and bustle, ways of the world so I just ask you to act on your love for others this Thanksgiving. We have been so separated by disease and fear, but this unfortunately has consumed most of society and so much time lost already, what a sad time it has been. Also always remember those who are not able to be home, those still serving our country and fighting for our freedoms! Give of yourself as that is what we should be about anyway. May you all be safe and happy on your journey this week!
I guess the crazy Christmas shopping frenzy will be starting as Black Friday emerges, seeing many ads on tv and the mail too. But also a very important Saturday to not forget, Shop Small, as so important to help keep our local businesses afloat! And we have some pretty awesome businesses in and around the county!!
There will be a Demo Derby this Saturday at 2 at Pike County Fairgrounds, admission will be $10.00. There will also be food vendors. Come on out and see the excitement and help support the fair!
Remember if you have any toys, new or gently used, the Pleasant Hill community club is taking donations to help those in need! There is another toy drop off Sunday, Nov. 28 from 1pm-3pm. They are also accepting monetary donations. Also can contact Joe Collard at (573)629-7257 if need to drop off at different time or have questions.
You will need to be on the lookout for the Collard Family Christmas lights down on Houston Street, they will be starting very soon in the next week or so. They sure do a lot of work for all of us and it is enjoyed by so many.
Wishing each and every one a very Happy Thankgiving!
