From the desk of Pastor David Slagle-217-473-1892.
The day started out being cool and damp but soon the sunshine warmed the air and made for a nice day.We were blessed with a great gathering of the family of God. It always blesses me to hear and watch the church family as each one catches up on the happenings of church families. We sang happy birthday to one of our youngest family members. I wondered how many out there remember their six year birthday? I surely don’t. It was an honor to officiate the funeral service for Walkerville’s oldest member Betty Newman. She loved her Lord and Savior and fought a good fight against health problems. It was with sadness but joy to know she left us but also to know she is with her lord and savior and there is no more pain nor illness. be sure and make a note to attend our Christmas concert on Dec. 12 during our morning service. Serenity Sound and Our Servants’ Hearts will be in concert. A luncheon will follow the concert and a free will offering will be received. We offer our condolences in the loss of loved ones to the families of Robert Cordess, Betty Newman,Debbie Smith, and Dennis Cunningham. our message this morning was “human hope or eternal hope” which do you have? I invite you to read Romans 5:1-8-2 Corinthians 4:18-John 14:1-6. When all is said and done- it comes down to this-either you know when you leave this life you have the hope and assurance in Christ Jesus or you have no hope beyond this life and in the soberest moments you face the fact that life is ultimately hopeless without Jesus. Our recent prayer requests are Ava/Dan-Bud/Diane-Debbie-Vera;family-Robert-Unmcle Darrell-Bobbie-Diane’s daughter-Dorothy’s brother. Wednesday evening bible is canceled for december and january. We look forward to worshiping with you in our morning service. need to talk? Please call my cell number at the top of the page.
