The Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes took second place in the Beardstown Tiger Classic. The team, along with Southeastern, Brown County and West Central all had 2-1 records at the end of pool play. The tie breaker was free throw percentage which sent G-P into the championship game, where they loss to Southeaster, 50-30.
Scoring in that game for the Tornadoes were: Ethan Irvin, 9, Tate Kunzeman 7, Miller 6, Logan Evans 4, Lane Lipcaman 3, Jakson Freeman 1.The triple overtime game, Nov. 24, against West Central, was the thriller of the tournament, the Tornadoes won 70-69, after Tate Kunzeman hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in the second extra period to force a third. Kinsmen also hit two-free throws with 5.5 seconds left in the final OT to give Griggsvlle-Perry the win. The Tornadoes started the tournament Tuesday, Nov. 23 with a 66-34 win over Rushville-Industry. Scoring for the Tornadoes in that game were: Ethan Irvin 21, Tate Kunzeman 20, Michael Myers 6, Logan Evans 5, Wyatt Lipcaman 4, Jakson freeman 4, Lane Lipcaman 3, Eli White 2, Aaron Miller 1. The Tornadoes are likely to meet West Central again in the Winchester Tournament and again Jan. 25, when G-P visits them at Winchester.
