Eleanor Lois (Flatt) Allen | 88 | DeKalb

Eleanor Lois (Flatt) Allen, 88, of DeKalb formerly, of Eldred, died on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 in DeKalb.
She was born May 6, 1933 in Bluffdale Township to the late Milton “Scotty” and Mabel (Shaw) Flatt.
She was married to James Allen and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2004.
Surviving are a son, Tim Griffin of Eldred; a daughter Nancy Swanberg and companion Al Nicholson of DeKalb; Grandchildren: Allyson (Mark) Cooley, Blake Graves and companion Michael, Kayla (Jeremy) Rulo, Lindsay Griffin, Nathan Swanberg and companion Elise, Michael Swanberg; Great Grandchildren: Alyssa, Lincoln, Hudson and Truman Cooley, Stevie Wilson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Griffin; a grandson, Joshua Griffin; two brothers and their wives: William (Rosemary) and Harold (Pauline) Flatt; four sisters and their husbands: Frances (Glen) Hedrick, Arvella (Edward) Plato, Doris (Howard) Devine, Shirley (Paul) Lasley.
Lois was employed by Columbiana Seed Company and Illinois Valley Supply as office staff until her retirement.
She was a member of Eldred Baptist Church and served on the Greene County Board.
At her request, her body was donated to science. The family will host a memorial service in the spring of 2022.
