Dirt work began on the west side of the Winchester Public Library last week to prepare for the construction of the new library expansion. A worker from Macomb’s Trotter Construction is shown operating an excavator, digging down to the proper depth to pour the addition’s footings and foundation.

Workers from Macomb’s Trotter Construction prepared to pour the library expansion’s concrete footings by constructing forms on Tuesday. Representatives from Trotter said the company intends to work throughout the fall and winter to complete the long-awaited library expansion as soon as possible. The expansion will add much needed space for the library’s youth collection, as well as space for community programming and activities. The project was funded by grants from the Illinois State Library and the United States Department of Agriculture.
