Santa had to put on an extra pair of long johns to visit the children in Roodhouse Friday night for the annual Christmas in the Park sponsored by the Roodhouse Police Department. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at 7 p.m. on the fire truck to the park where a long line of children were already waiting to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
Vendors were set up in the park for the parents to peruse and buy for loved ones for Christmas and to keep warm there were free hot dogs and chili available as well as free hot chocolate.
Of course everyone had a chance to see the new park pavilion that was built thanks to the generosity of many in the community.
Children could even go over and pick out a gift for their brother or sister or even a friend and have it gift wrapped thanks to toys that were donated to the police department.
