The Bluffs Village Board met Dec. 1 and gave raises of $1 per hour to three employees, Clay Coats, Dwayne Caution and Terry Kunkel. The three-full time employees will also receive a $250 Christmas bonus, while part-time employees, Sharon Evans, Patrick Johnson and Kay Sandman, will receive $125.
Johnson was hired as chief of police at a rate of $23 per hour at the same meeting.
The board also voted to accept a bid from VICC to fix the payment on Oakes Street and Wabash, where a truck ran over water main. The cost will be approximately $2,421.
The board will also purchase a generator, using TIF money.
It was reported the Santa in the Park was a huge success with several families attending. Next year there is a possibility of renting a reindeer.
It was decided to have the Jan. meeting, at 4:30 instead of the set meeting time of 6 p.m. Regular meeting time will return in February. The board’s Christmas party will be Jan. 5, after the regular monthly meeting.
A motion by Kim Schaad to accept ordinance $492, which prohibits water wells in the village was passed.
