Jersey Community High School (JCHS) came back from a two-point first quarter deficit to outshooting and outsourcing East Alton-Wood River Community High School (EAWR) in the second half 44-5 and go on to a win in their home opener at Havens Gym on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
The Oilers led after the first quarter with the lead of 14-12, but the Panthers took a 32-29 lead at halftime. During the third quarter their winning streak was 51-34. Then they shut down EAWR 25-0 in the fourth quarter to take the win.
Ayden Kanallakan led Jersey with 17 points, with Sam Lamer scoring 14 points, Trenton Decker had 13 points, Francis Vogel scored six points, Ethan Klunk came up with five points, Tanner Brunaugh, Drake Goetten and Logan Meisner all had four points apiece, Jacob Wagner had three points and both Jaxon Brunaugh and Cody Croxford had two points each. The Panthers are now 4-1 for the season.

Jersey Community High School (JCHS) boys basketball team took to the court on Friday, Dec. 3 and the Panthers won their game on Friday against Civic Memorial (CM) This is the sixth win for JCHS and in the first quarter the Panthers lead with af 20-6 after the then at half-time took a huge lead with a score of 37-13. After the half, the Panthers jumped out to the lead with 48-27. They outscored the Eagles in the fourth quarter 17-14.
Ayden Kanallaken lead with 26 points for the Panthers, Sam Lamer added 13 points to the winning score and, Jaxon Brunaugh had 10 points, Trenton Decker came up with five points, Tanner Brunaugh had four points, Cody Croxford, Edward Roberts and Francis Vogel all had two points each and Logan Meisner had a single point. JCHS’s record is now 6-1 for the season.
