Nicholas Albrecht as Director of Emergency Services

Nicholas Albrecht
Nicholas (Nick) began his career as an Emergency Department nurse 9 years ago. The first 5 years were at Level 1 trauma centers in St. Louis and the last 4 years he helped manage an Emergency Department in St louis. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Western Illinois University and a Bachelors in nursing from SIUE. In 2022, Nick plans to continue his education as he begins to work towards a Masters in Health Care Administration.
Nick is looking forward to this wonderful opportunity as JCH. “I enjoy taking the knowledge I have learned through my previous experiences and passing it on to others. We never know what will walk through the doors of the ED on any given day and getting the opportunity to help those in need makes it all worth it.”
Nick is originally from Medora, IL. He, his wife of 6 years, and 3 children currently reside in Edwardsville, IL. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, watching sports, and spending time outdoors.
Chad Kallal as Director of Patient Access

Chad Kallal
Chad Kallal is the Director of Patient Access overseeing Registration, Scheduling, Referrals and Admitting at JCH. He began his career in healthcare 9 years ago at Saint Louis University. While working for the University, he held multiple positions including: Supervisor of the Patient Access Center, Sr. Analyst of Clinical Applications, and Lead Data Manager for the Department of Health Outcomes Research.
Chad’s education includes an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Lewis and Clark as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Health Data Science, both from Saint Louis University. “I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to improve patient access through the use of new technology and data-driven decision making. I also admire the work ethic that patient access staff must put in each day in order to make healthcare services available to those in need.”
Chad lives in Jerseyville, IL with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, golfing and spending time with his family.
Daniel Scannell Medical/Surgical & ICU Director

Daniel Scannell
Daniel (Dan) began his healthcare career 12 years ago as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Christian hospital while in nursing school and began working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) there upon graduation. He then moved to the Cardiovascular Unit followed by a position in the “float pool” where Dan worked in nearly every department in the hospital.
Dan is currently enrolling in a RN-BSN program at SIUE. “I have really enjoyed stepping into the director role here at JCH. The staff here is incredible! It has been great to see the level of team work that everyone in the Medical/Surgical Unit and ICU display. I am really looking forward to working with the community that I grew up in.”
Dan resides in Grafton, IL with his wife and 7 year- old daughter. Dan and his family love to spend the summers boating on the river. Some other hobbies he enjoys are woodworking, time outdoors, and he tries to get out and play ice hockey when he can.
