Almost every house and business in Kampsville is getting in the holiday spirit! It’s so great to see our town all festive.
Congratulations to Calhoun 8th Grade Lady Warriors! They won regionals Friday night. They will play in sectionals Wednesday night in Pawnee against Unity-Mendon. Good luck ladies!
Also bringing home a win the 7th grade boys won the North Greene Tournament.
St. Anslem Turkey Ham game night last Saturday was a wonderful success. This was definitely a fun night. Thank you to all who came out and helped support the St. Anslem Cemetery Fund. They plan to have another one in the Spring.
I am so glad this event was brought back thanks to all who worked organizing and putting this on.
Calhoun Unit 40 band under the direction of Lindsey Watters presented their Christmas concert Sunday afternoon at the Calhoun Elementary/Jr. High Gym. It was absolutely wonderful the kids did a great job and you could tell that they’ve worked very hard. Band director Ms. Lindsey Watters did a wonderful job conducting and getting the kids ready for this.
Keeping with tradition all of the band grades six through senior year join together to finish out the concert by playing the Carol of the Bells.
Kampsville Kids Christmas Party Sunday Dec. 19 at the Center for American Archeology Gym 4-6 pm. We have lots of fun things planned. The big guy from the north pole will be there.
Everyone’s favorite is the treat walk. Don’t forget I need people to donate baked goods for the treat walk.
Calhoun Entertainment Company presents “Sounds of the Season “ Sunday Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Hall.
Mrs. Hillen’s class from St. Norbert’s will be selling Hot Chocolate and Goodies on Friday Dec.10 at Christmas in the Woods at Sievers Lane. From 5-8 p.m. to support their service program.
A little news I got in too late last week. Denny and Judi Neese welcomed 24 family members for Thanksgiving. Dennis’ mom Gladys, Brooke, Drew, and friend.Dee dee and husband Ron, DJ and Heather and their three boys, Their nephew Dustin,( Kampsville’s water guy) Stacey and their three kids. Mallory, Adam and two boys.
Jeff’s family along with Tammy were unable to attend due to illness. They were sure to be missed.
The kids ages five to 18 all enjoyed riding four wheelers and motorcycles. Even some of the dads enjoyed riding too.
It was definitely a great day for families to get together and celebrate holidays.
Little Miss Calhoun Harlow Hayn turned eight on Nov. 30. She celebrated with an awesome skating party at the Loading Dock on Sunday with friends and family. They all enjoyed donuts and muffins from Big Boy Donuts.
Sympathy to Chuck Schumann his dad Bill Schumann passed away this past week. Bill was our Legion Commander for many years. He was always smiling and would do anything for anyone. I had the pleasure of getting to work with him on many of the town Christmas parties over the years. His funeral was held Monday with full military rights. Following dinner was held at the Kampsville American Legion. Please keep Chuck in your prayers.
