It’s December and the holidays are here. Giving back to your community during the holidays is just one way to help those in need. So local businesses, around Calhoun County, are hosting a community hygiene and clothing drive to help gather essentials for area community kids lacking basic essentials.
“The mission is to make sure kids, Pre-K, kindergarten/elementary age, of Calhoun are clothed and have hygiene products,” The Facebook posting said.
The program will kick off on Dec 4 and will continue to accept donations until Dec 14. Donations will be collected periodically over the next two weeks at the following locations:
■ Bank of Kampsville – Hardin & Brussels
■ Bank of Calhoun – Hardin & Brussels
■ Illinois Riverdock Restaurant
■ Brit’s Little Beauty Room
■ Hardin Dollar General
■ Country Financial
■ Senior Center
■ Hardin Ayerco Gas Station
The items should be new and will be distributed to Hardin and Brussels schools.
Item ideas are: deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrush, soaps, all sizes of socks, underwear, hats and gloves. According to a Facebook posting organizers of the drive are thanking everyone for spreading Christmas blessings to the kids of Calhoun.
