Pittsfield scored with 12 seconds remaining in the game and beat West Central 43-40 in boys’ basketball Dec. 7 at Pittsfield.
Tyson Brown made a three-point basket, and the Cougars led 34-25 with 7:25 remaining in the game.
The Saukees scored 10 straight points to take a 35-34 lead and extended the lead to 39-36.
Zack Evans scored with 1:30 remaining, and Brown scored with 44 seconds remaining to give West Central a 40-39.
Pittsfield missed a shot but grabbed the offensive rebound and scored for a 41-40 lead.
West Central turned the ball over with 6 seconds remaining, and Pittsfield made two free throws to extend the margin to three points. West Central missed a three-point shot at the buzzer that would have tied the game.
Evans scored 16 points and had two steals for the Cougars. Brown scored nine points and seven rebounds and two steals. Peyton Hartley scored nine points and had three assists.
Chance Little scored six points and had 10 rebounds. Lathan Barnett had two steals.
Pittsfield won the junior varsity game 45-27.
Carson Brown scored 12 points to lead West Central. Jaydon Howard and Dalton Hutton each scored four points. Caden Meyer scored three points. Zac Howard and Landyn Woods each scored two points.
