Cougar Mason Berry plays defense against a North Mac players. The Cougars won the game, which was played in Winchester, 59-17. Winchester will not host another game until Jan.6, when Greenfield comes to town. Three straight road games and the Wavery Tournament, keep the Cougars on the move.
West Central allowed just six first half points and beat North Mac 59-17 in boys’ basketball Dec. 11 at Winchester.
Zack Evans had a steal and scored on a layup, and Lathan Barnett made two free throws to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Tysyn Mast made a three-point basket to extend the lead to 11-2. West Central led 11-4 after one quarter.
Evans scored five points early in the second, and the Cougars led 16-4 with 6:51 remaining before halftime. North Mac scored a few moments later, but West Central scored the next 15 points and led 31-6 at halftime.
The Cougars scored the first 12 points of the third quarter to extend the lead to 37 points. Evans started the quarter with a three-point basket, and Mast converted a three-point play, Tyson Brown made a three-point basket, and Evans made another three that gave West Central a 43-6 with 5:47 remaining in the quarter.
North Mac scored the next five points, but West Central led 49-13 after three quarters.
West Central made 10 three-point baskets in the game. Evans made four while Mast and Brown each made two. Peyton Hartley and Jack Fry each made one.
Evans scored 18 points and had four rebounds and four steals to lead the winners. Mast scored 13 points and had four steals. Brown scored 10 points and had five rebounds.
Barnett scored six points and had three assists and three steals. Hartley scored five points, and Jackson Ford scored four. Fry scored three points. Jaydon Howard scored 14 points, but North Mac won the junior varsity game 49-39.

Zack Evans puts up a contested shot in the a recent home game versus North Mac. The Cougars will be on the road to Lakeland Christian in Knightstown, Ind. Dec. 18. Their next home game will be Jan.4 versus Pleasant Hill and will be played in Bluffs.
