Christmas Spirit and the kids of Kampsville filled the American Archeology Gym Sunday, Dec. 19, for the Kampsville Kids Christmas Party.
Diane Brangenberg and her committee have run this event for 28 years and it was evident on Sunday that they have the event mastered. Kids from near and far gathered for Christmas themed activities such as a treat walk, raffle baskets, hot chocolate bar, and pictures with Santa.
Brangenberg estimated that there were 100 kids in attendance. “It was the biggest crowd we have ever had,” she stated.
Brangenberg explained that the Kampsville Kids Christmas party is essential to the community because parents can bring their kids and not have to worry about money. She added that this is a “safe party,” an event where everybody knows everybody, which she said, is what makes this a tradition that so many look forward to.
Right Alongside Bragenberg for 28 years, is Debbie Klunk, Co-Chair of The Kampsville Kids Christmas Party. Klunk said, “It is a rewarding feeling to see the excitement and joy on all of the kids’ faces.”
It is the type of event that Klunk said, “makes you feel good inside.”
Klunk puts in the work every year, in order to keep the town on the map. “Next year,” she stated, “we will try and make it even better.”
Every Kid walked out of the Gym on Sunday with an abundance of presents and an overload of Christmas Cheer. Even though the Grinch showed up to the party, he was not able to steal Christmas away from the kids of Kampsville. en Pohlman)
