It’s beginning to look a lot like… wait a minute.
How did Christmas creep up so fast this year? I know I can’t be the only person scratching my head over the fact that December 25th is in just a few more days.
Maybe it’s the mild weather we’ve had this season. Maybe it’s those old COVID blues. Whatever the case may be, I feel like I’ve time traveled. And to be perfectly honest, I keep thinking it’s still 2020, which is another problem entirely.
While I have done some shopping, I haven’t done nearly as much as I would have liked. I’ve found myself purchasing more gifts online this year, which I’m not proud of, and several of my items are yet to ship. The late deliveries are sure to make me seem even less prepared, and that’s why I prefer in-person shopping.
Still, I have hope that I’ll be able to check off all of the items on my Christmas checklist before Saturday, but I’m not going to hold my breath. Seriously, how is it nearly Christmas?
There are so many movies to watch, songs to carol, cookies to bake, and cups of cocoa to drink during this wonderful season. I really need to catch up. Many of my friends and family members are all prepped and ready for the holiday while I’m still stuck in August.
This certainly isn’t the first time I’ve been ill-prepared for Christmas, but it may just be the sneakiest Christmas in recent memory. At least I bought myself a new dress to wear for Christmas mass, so that I can at least look prepared in my unpreparedness.
Wherever the month of December went is beyond me, but I suppose it’s time to begin deciding on a New Year’s Resolution, since it’s nearly 2021… I mean, 2022. But first, Merry Christmas! I wish you good tidings of comfort and joy.
