Katherine Simon of Brussels was crowned 2022 Miss Illinois Queen and Miss Christmas 2021 on Friday, Dec. 17. Queen of Crowns Pageantry Inc. hosted a virtual pageant and Simon was judged on the categories of Photogenic, Evening Gown, and Beauty.
Simon explained, “This is a new pageant system that is virtual because of the pandemic, but they still do everything a normal pageant would do.”
Simon Is currently working for an insurance company as an operation claims intern and a caregiver for her grandmother. She is in her senior year of college earning her bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She plans to continue her education and earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She would like to specialize in women’s health, specifically for women who have just given birth.
Simon explained that this contest was perfect for her. “It gives me a platform to help the community,” she said. With the title of 2022 Miss Illinois Queen, Simon is eager to get out and help with festivals, parades, fundraisers, and volunteering.
Simon added that she plans to compete for the National Title in December of 2022.
