Miss Vonda Sevier, who was crowned 1946 P.T.A. Carnival Queen at Kampsville’s high school gym. With her is her escort, Eugene Puterbaugh of Kampsville. Vonda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sevier of Hamburg.

A committee has been appointed by Gov. Small and another one by the U.S. Government to investigate conditions in the Illinois river.
From reports coming to us this body of water sure can stand an investigation.
The federal government has rendered a decision to stop stocking the Illinois river with fish, because the Chicago sewage has polluted the water and rendered fish life impossible.
Come on with your investigation and deny Chicago the privilege of dumping her rotten stuff into this stream.
Millions of dollars worth of fish have been destroyed by Chicago’s offal being turned into the Illinois river.
We want a stop put to this thing.
