Rita May Dixon | 68 | Griggsville
Rita May Dixon, age 68, of Griggsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born May 30, 1953 in Carrollton, the daughter of Clarence and Alta Fabburn Schlieper.
Rita is survived by long-time companion, Bob Dixon of Griggsville; four brothers, Richard of Ingleside, TX, Ron (Frances) of Pleasant Hill, Roger (Peggy) of Weldon and Rodney of Champaign; one sister, Reba (Gary) White of Pittsfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents.
Ms. Dixon attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1971 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Rita was employed at several companies in Pike County before finishing her career with Farmer’s National Bank, retiring in 2019. Rita dearly loved her family and would do anything for them. Her co-workers became part of her extended family. Rita will be missed by all who knew her. She had a love for animals and cared for several of them over the years.
A celebration of life visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville. There will be no formal services. Burial will be held at a later date at Greenpond Cemetery, near Pearl. Memorials are suggested to Pike County Animal Shelter. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
