Curtis Gene Wear | 79 | Winchester
Curtis Gene Wear, 79 of Winchester passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 at his home with his daughters at his side.He was born Oct. 19, 1942 in Quincy the son of the late Grover and Ethel Fugate Wear of Clayton. He married his high school sweetheart Diana Schlueter on March 1, 1960. She preceded him in death Feb. 28, 2021. Together they raised 3 daughters, Geri (Danny) Hill of Hudson, Florida, Ginger Schroeder of Jacksonville and Gayle (Matt) Strohecker of Winchester. Seven grandchildren, Derek (Brittany) Eddy of Jacksonville, Brittany Vincent (fiancé Robert Bentley) of Murrayville, Jessica (Jacob) Vignone of St. Louis, Tyler Strohecker of Brighton, Kristan Schroeder (partner Shaun Stone) of Jacksonville, Brandon Strohecker of Winchester, Justin Schroeder of Jacksonville, five great grandchildren, Carly and Dallas Eddy of Jacksonville, Cayden and Dylan Vincent of Murrayville, and Brintley Stone of Jacksonville. Gene loved his family and had many great hunting and fishing buddies. He loved the great outdoors and spending time at his Mark Twain Lake home. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed boating and took many hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends.
After attending Central High School in Camp Point, he farmed with his father in Clayton. He then went to work for Moorman Feed Company and transferred to Winchester where he began his longtime career with Illinois Valley Paving from where he retired. Gene attended Winchester First Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Visitation with the family will be from 2 until the time of the service.
