Grafton couple killed in Jefferson County crash

A two-vehicle accident, along Interstate 57 near Mt. Vernon, claimed the lives of a Grafton couple, last Wednesday, Dec. 29.
Terry Stromske, 73, and Kathy Stromske, 70, were headed northbound, near milepost 84 in Jefferson County, when their 2017 GMC Sierra struck the rear of a 2019 Peterbilt semi truck that was stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police. The accident occurred at 2:32 p.m.
Terry, who was driving, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kathy was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she later passed away as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the semi, Nodell D. Graves, 31, of Madison Wisconsin, was not injured in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation and no further information has been made available at this time.
