Calhoun/Brussels made the 63 mile trek to Brown County and came home with their first conference loss of the season. The Lady Warriors weathered an early run by the Lady Hornets, had the score down to four points before a buzzer beater 3 at the half for the home team. The Lady Warriors had the score down to three midway through the third quarter before Brown County went on a quick surge to make the lead double digits and never recovered from there. Calhoun/Brussels starts play in the North Greene Lady Spartan Classic against conference foe West Central in pool play Saturday afternoon. The Lady Warriors had three players in double figures while all five of Brown County’s top six hit double digits in scoring.

Calhoun/Brussels began pool play at the Lady Spartan Classic with a steady win over West Central. The Lady Warriors are the 3 seed and West Central the 5 seed. A slow start saw both teams knotted at 2 midway through the 1st quarter before Calhoun/Brussels knocked down three 3-pointers to close the quarter on a 9-2 run. The Lady Warriors won each quarter to increase its lead at every stop. Calhoun/Brussels faces #7 seed Pleasant Hill/Western Monday before a rubber match against #1 seed South County Wednesday night.

Calhoun/Brussels took care of business in the late game Monday by dispatching of #7 seed Pleasant Hill at the Lady Spartan Classic. Calhoun/Brussels now goes into its rubber match with South County Wednesday night for a chance to go to the Championship game Saturday. South County took its first loss at Calhoun on Dec. 22 before the Vipers took down the Lady Warriors in a pool play game at the Carlinville Holiday Tournament. The Lady Warriors got everyone in the game Monday night and had seven different players punch in some points as a running clock 4th quarter was triggered with a 44-11 start to the frame.
