It was a tough night on Jan. 6 for both the Spartans and the Lady Spartans. The Spartans traveled to Griggsville/Perry while the Lady Spartans played host to Pleasant Hill/Western.
The very young Spartan varsity team fell to Griggsville/Perry 72-22. Scoring for the Spartans was Garrett Hazelwonder, 6; Tyson Moore, 6; Reese Scott, 5; Ethan Clark, 3 and Caiden Eilers, 2.
The junior varsity team played a shortened game losing 29-21. Scoring for North Greene were: Brody Berry, 6; Tyson Moore, 6; Adam Moffitt, 4; Ethan Clark 3 and Ben Tepen, 2.
The Lady Spartans struggled early finding themselves down 19-4 after the first quarter to the Lady Wolves. The ladies battled back, however, and headed into the fourth quarter down by only 7, 34-27.
Unfortunately, they were outscored in the fourth and ended up falling to the Wolves 51-36.
Scoring for North Greene: Bailey Berry, 11; Savannah Schmidt, 9; Carlee Speaker, 5; Maddi Osborne, 5; Nila Beatty, 2; Bella Bushnell, 2 and Delanie Teno, 2.
The Lady Spartans junior varsity team also played a shortened game with the JV team falling as well 22-6. In this game, Bella Bushnell had 4 and Karley Moore, 2.
On the other side of the building, the junior high boys played host to Brown County. The eighth-grade team returned to winning form by knocking off the Hornets 40-24.
Scoring for North Greene: Luke Farris, 14; Hunter Castleberry, 13; Landon Gilmore, 7; Kendan Stepp, 3; Porter Dossett, 2 and Jase Goben, 1.
The seventh-grade squad took on a more daunting task and fell to a towering Hornet squad, 55-19. Scoring for the Warriors: Ryan Newton, 10, Boen Berry, 6 and Wyatt McGraw, 3.
