The snow over the weekend was beautiful and a lot of work also. Thankfully “It takes a Village” and we always have guys willing to help out. A huge thank you to Jarod Gibson, Robert Pamenter, Shawn Shewemake, Kevin Webster, and Paul and Blaize Klunk for cleaning streets and alleys.
I got stuck in my driveway but thankfully Kenny Johnson was able to pull my car out and blade my driveway for me. I’m blessed to have such good friends.
Also we have three awesome boys in town. Channing Johnson, Benton and Dayton Bailey who love to shovel snow. They would shovel anyone’s sidewalk or deck that needed it. It’s great to have young boys in town who like to do this.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped on Friday to take the tree down and the decorations before the storm hit on Saturday.
Miss Calhoun Lexi Klocke competed Saturday in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen competition. She represented Calhoun very well. She had a great cheering section there also cheering her on.
Congratulations to the Lady Warriors basketball team on getting second place and the sportsmanship award in the Pike County tournament. Congratulations also on being chosen all tournament to Jaelyn Hill and Ella Sievers.
Junie Zirkelbach was the high scorer Saturday in the Lady Blues Illinois College Game against Lake Forest. She scored 20 points and was also named player of the game. It was a very close game 77-74 the Lady Blues won.
Our Queen still hasn’t been found at the Legion so don’t forget to stop in and get your queen of heart tickets.
Congratulations to Brody and Molly Hagen who welcomed their first child, a daughter, Jolie, weighing 7lbs. and 9oz on January 10. Proud first time grandparents are Marty and Christina Johnson and Great Grandma is Rosemary Johnson. Marty celebrated his birthday on January 14. What a wonderful birthday gift.

Mayor Wade and James as well as Village Clerk Jodi have been battling Covid this past week. Please keep them in your prayers as well as everyone currently battling Covid. Our residents and staff at the Calhoun nursing and rehab and continue prayers for Kurt Roth, Joe Gress, Amy Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Zel Blumenberg, Jim Hill, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Jerry Crader, Eileen Gardner, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Linda Herkert, Bob Banghart and Kathryn Chapman.
